Welcome to Gammelgården, one of Swedens largest folk museum. This unique open-air museum tells the story of Borlänges history. It´s an oasis with 35 buildings and thousands of objects to see.

Description

Among the many historical houses are a forge, a mill and a barn. There is also a worker’s cottage dating from the early 1800s and a school museum.

The birthplaces of the world-famous tenorJussi Björling and the psalm writer Johan Olof Wallin have been moved here as well. All buildings are open for booked guided tours during the summer.

At Gammelgården there are a number of events every year, such as Traditional Midsummer celebrations, Christmas market, dance-evenings, open air services, weddings and theaters.

Café is open during may-september.

Trace Tunabygden’s history starting in the Prehistoric Chamber with its Stone Ages displays. Here is the birthplace of the world-famous tenorJussi Björling and the psalm writer Johan Olof Wallin, a worker’s home dating from the early 1800s and a school museum.
