River Walk 4 km - 8.5 km

The Älvpromenaden in Avesta is a scenic urban trail that runs along both sides of the Dalälven riverbanks from Avesta to Krylbo. Along the way, there are benches and barbecue spots for those who want to take a break, as well as several exciting attractions such as Gamla Byn or the art venue Verket.

NOTE! For the time being, the Brogårdsbron in Krylbo over the Dalälven is closed. Visit the Avesta Municipality website for further information. Starting Point: Start at Verket in Koppardalen, where there is parking and a café. You can also start at Lindsnäs interchange above Döda Fallen or Stationsparken in Krylbo. Length: 8.5 km. Trail Markings: Along the walk, there are signs and markings in green and red that indicate where the trail goes. Difficulty: The trail is mostly easy to navigate and suitable for families with children, fitness walks, and those who prefer a leisurely pace. The surface consists of paths, boardwalks, asphalt, and gravel roads. The trail is mostly flat but includes some steep hills and sections with roots and uneven terrain. Environment: The River Walk is an urban trail in Avesta that runs along the banks of the Dalälven. Trail Description: The walk extends on both sides of the Dalälven a stone's throw from Avesta's center, from Gamla Byn to Krylbo. Walking the entire trail along both sides of the river is approximately 8.5 km. There is a footbridge over the river along half of the trail, and opting for that route results in a walk of about 4 km. Along the trail, there are arranged barbecue areas and benches. The nearest restroom and water refill points can be found at Dalahästens shopping area, the art arena Verket, or at one of the stores in Krylbo. The River Walk offers rich and varied nature. The trail is not maintained in the winter, so it may be icy and difficult to access. In the spring, you'll find an abundance of wood anemones growing, and in the summer, they are replaced by lush greenery with ferns, wild-grown deciduous trees, and traces of wild garden plants. In the fall, the trail offers a vibrant palette as the autumn leaves change color to red, orange, and yellow. There are many interesting sites along the way, such as the roar of Avestaforsen, Gamla Byn, Döda Fallen, and Koppardalen with the art arena Verket.
