The reserve consists of the ravine that surrounds the stream.
The ravine has previously been used for mowing and grazing. Since farming ceased, the gorge has grown again. The forest on the sides and at the bottom of the ravine contains plenty of dead wood both standing and as flames. There is a wide spread of tree species, with deciduous trees dominating. The dead wood provides good conditions for the occurrence of wood fungi and lichens and, for example, you can find the less common bark tick on aspen as well as the threatened fungus winter bowl.
