Gyllbergen Nature reserve

Gyllbergen is Borlänge’s largest nature reserve with 1020 hectare of wilderness area with good hiking tracks. During the winter there are 70 km of prepared ski-tracks available.

The reserve was established in 1982 to protect the area from clear-cutting. In the past, the outcrops were forested, but the trees were felled to supply the mining operations, as at Falu Mine. The last felling took place in the 19th century, and now the forest is slowly growing back. The area has 23 peaks over 400 meters. Information and maps are available on the county board's website.
