The Nostalgia Petrol Station at Långshyttan. Collections from the 1950s and 1960s.
The newly rebuilt gas station in Långshyttan was originally a Shell station in the mid-1950s until around 1960 and was originally built on a plot along Klostergatan in the Solängen area. There, gasoline, diesel, kerosene, oils, and accessories like spark plugs and fan belts were sold.
For a few years into the 1960s, the station was converted into a flower kiosk. Later, the building was moved to Ostbo to serve as a summer cottage. This year, it has been returned to Långshyttan, located between Bengtsgården and the Mulltimmerhyttan blast furnace. The rebuilding and renovation of the station have been carried out through volunteer work, and many locals have donated various period-appropriate items that were sold or used at gas stations during that time.
The Nostalgia Station will continue to showcase the history of the different gas stations that have existed in Långshyttan over the years, without any affiliation with a specific gasoline brand. It will display everything related to the operation of a gas station from that era.
