Cross-country skiing in Falun offers several options for those who want to collect miles for the current Vasalopp and those looking for more enjoyable skiing in scenic surroundings. The Swedish National Park for Cross Country Skiing, the Lugnet Ski Stadium, has an early start and there are well-prepared tracks of different lengths from autumn to a good bit in the spring. In central Falun is also Gruvspåret, a local ski trail based on the world heritage Falu Mine.

In Sörskog, north of Bjursås, you can find goood cross-country tracks in the "wilderness" nature. When the snow is lacking in other regions, there is usually good amounts of snow in the higher grounds.

In Bjursås, 25 km north of Falun, there are further possibilities for cross-country skiing. Around the Bjursås SkiCenter there are several ski trails of varying lengths and terrain - both day trails and illuminated tracks. There is also a possibility to rent cross country skiis.
