Siljansleden 340 km

The Siljan Trail, one of 12 signature trails selected by the Swedish Tourist Association, winds through the forests around the entire Siljan and Orsasjön. The trail mainly follows old mountain pasture paths, along lakes, over marshes and up mountains. Many of the mountain pastures that are passed along the road are high and beautifully located, where there are height differences of over 400 meters. In many places, the effort on the uphill is rewarded by breathtaking views of Lake Siljan and the surrounding area.

NB: Part of the Siljan Trail is not accessible for passage in 2024 due to safety aspects and construction at Spjutmo power plant. Length: Approx. 340 km. Severity: Medium-Severe. On some stretches, both water and food should be brought, while other stretches go through communities where there are both shops and restaurants. The hiking trail goes through a large hilly and mighty landscape that mainly follows old mountain pasture paths. The differences in altitude are over 400 meters. A variety of well-preserved summer pastures that remind us of the summer pasture life are passed. You experience larger and smaller lakes as a welcome break from the dominant forest and marsh terrain. The waters offer swimming and fishing opportunities and sometimes encounters with wild animals that have sought out the water. Then move carefully and enjoy the meeting. The marking makes it easy to follow the trail. Rest areas and campsites are arranged at suitable distances.
