Vasaloppsleden Mora - Sälen 90 km

Along the way, you pass all the famous Vasaloppet villages and old fine mountain pastures. At a reasonable distance between each other are the overnight cabins. Unlike Vasaloppet's skiers, you should take your time to enjoy animals and nature. Stop in the villages and picturesque mountain pastures. It's a great way to experience the famous places from Vasaloppet. The Vasaloppet Arena is Sweden's longest and narrowest nature reserve. Start and end location: You start at the Vasaloppet finish in Mora and wade to the starting point of Vasaloppet in Berga by, Sälen. Length: 90 km. Trail markings: Symbol for hiking with the text "Vasaloppsarenan Vasaloppsleden". NB! There are three different trails: hiking, biking and skiing. Stick to the right symbol! Orange color with hikers in picture. Time: Approximately 5 days. Severity: Easy terrain. Varying surfaces, mostly paths, gravel roads and forest roads. Environment: You pass seven Vasaloppet checkpoints along the trail. Varied environment - forest paths, lovely forest roads, footbridges, cozy gravel roads. After the road you pass old fine summer pastures. The landscape is mountains, forests, marshes, cultural land, villages, mountain pastures. Many sights along the trail. See link below! Facilities: Along the trail there are eleven log cabins, thirteen table and bench groups for breaks and toilets adjacent to cabins and log cabins. Water is available at every Vasaloppet checkpoint (summer time). Barbecue area at every slogbod and at every cottage. Other accommodation along the trail can be found in Evertsberg's community centre, Oxberg's hostel, Gopshusgården, Sandsgården in Gopshus. Solar cell installations and the possibility of charging e.g. mobile phones, GPS, cameras etc. are available at all eight overnight sites along the trail. Overnight: There are nine cabins in eight places along the trail. All cottages have eight beds with the exception of Sundetstugan which has 14 beds - bunk beds with galon mattresses. They are open all year round, not bookable. Equipment in the cottage: unsawn firewood, saw, axe, bucket, broom and dustpan are available on site. There are no pans in the cottages, you have to bring your own. Dogs are not allowed in the cabins and smoking is not allowed. Cost of overnight stay in the cottages: SEK 100 per bed and night. Young people under the age of 17 stay for free. Payment is made via Swish, number 123 1960 384, recipient Stiftelsen Vasaloppsleden. Grocery store: Shops that are open during the day are located in Mora and in Sälen village. In Evertsberg, there is an unmanned Lifvs store open around the clock. Parking: Park your car in Mora - see Mora municipality's website, long-term parking. Parking in Sälen is available at the start house in Berga village, free of charge. Charging an electric car: Available in several places in Mora. Public transport: Take the bus back to Mora from the stop "Berga Vasaloppsstarten". Timetable via Dalatrafiken. Map of the hiking trail is available for purchase. You are not allowed to walk and cycle on private land. It is possible to camp at the cottage and along the trail, but not on private land.
