Siljans view from the observation tower - The observation tower is 28 meters high. It stands on the 352 meter high Lerdalsberget. The tower was built in 1889 by the entrepreneur Olof Lindmark. Up there, you have a spectacular view of Siljansringen, the 6.5-mile meteorite crater in Dalarna.

Siljansringen is western Europe's largest meteorite crater. It was formed 380 million years ago when a meteorite, 5 kilometers in size, crashed into what is now Dalarna. A 6.5 mile wide crater was formed – today only the roots are visible as a ring-shaped depression with a dome of granite in the middle.
