Flogberget Mines

Flogberget in Smedjebacken is one of Sweden's most interesting mining environments. The mine is beautifully situated high up on the mountain next to the village of Lernbo with a fantastic view over Lake Leran. It is unique in that both the open pit and the underground sections can be visited.

The mines are located on a mountaintop and are mostly drained through an underground adit. It is an ingenious method, as mining could take place without the need for pumping. Flogberget offers exciting experiences in open-pit mines and underground caverns. The different eras of mining can be traced from the 1600s onward. Flogberget's mine is an environment in Ekomuseum Bergslagen. Visit on your own and follow the visitor trail in the area. The location is well signposted.
