Hökberg

Show map

Hökberg has been inhabited since the 1500s and has been the home of many summer pastures in Mora. Since the Great Shift in 1850, Hökberg has belonged to Öna village in Mora. In the early 1900s, there were over 40 cows and about ten inhabited cottages. The oldest parts are on the west side, where there are some manors from the 1600s. Today it is mostly holiday buildings but some are permanently resident here. The Vasaloppet control was added in 1963, after the track was rerouted. The control station and the village cottage can be rented by private individuals and associations and you can then contact IFK Mora's office. As soon as the snow has settled for the season, tracks are made along the stretch up from Mora. From the Epiphany weekend until Vasaloppet Week, Hökberg's summer pasture team provides catering here. This is done with the help of local sponsors and about 15 cabin hosts.
