MasOlles Gammelgård - Open Air Museum

The arrangement of buildings enclosing a square yard is a typical example of a normal-sized farm from lower Siljan in the 18th and 19th centuries. The farm has a barn from the 14th century.

The farm has a leaf barn from the 1300s and a collection of textiles and costumes. The artist Helmer MasOlle created the homestead in the 1940s, by moving the old building Båtgården to its current location. In 1919, Båtfården had been bought at auction by MasOlle, who wanted the well-preserved building to remain as a homestead for Siljansnäs parish. In the early 1940s, MasOlle began to move buildings to this new location. Some houses in poor condition were replaced with other equivalent ones from the Siljansnäs area. In 1954, the farm was completely rebuilt.
