Norn ironwork

Norn outside Hedemora is Dalarna's best-preserved industrial environment and is a wonderfully beautiful place with its magnificent blast furnace, homes and chapel. The ironworks is surrounded by large lake-rich areas with untouched and exciting wilderness. A real gem in the forests of Dala.

Norn dates back to the 1600s and has been intact since the 1800s with a foundry and mill, smithy and blacksmith's residences, a power station in slag stone and a works warehouse, a school (school museum), chapel, bell tower, vicarage and manor. Also worth seeing is the very old road (county road W 671) that still today constitutes the public road from Norn towards Larsbo and Söderbärke. The road is classified as of national interest for cultural environment conservation. Guided tours can be booked.
