In Kniva, Vika there is an 18th century miner's home-stead, Staberg, surrounded by a slag heap hundreds of years old. Staberg was referred to as a miner's home-stead as far back as the end of the Middle Ages.
The oldest known owner was miner Hans Marqvardsson, who lived at Staberg at the beginning of the 16th century. His brother was great grandfather of the poet George Stiernhielm. Gamla Staberg was built around the turn of the 18th century. Gamla Staberg's miner's farm was designated a registered historic building in 1965. A monument was erected 300 metres south of the miner´s home-stead "Bergsmansgården".
