Gruvvandringen/Mine Hike 5 km

Hiking that goes through old mining areas in the forest near Solberga, southeast of Insjön. The hike follows narrow but easy-to-walk trails in partly steep terrain past various sites where mining used to be conducted.

Start and End Location: Solberga, see directions. Length: 5 km, loop trail. Trail Marking: Difficulty Level: Demanding, as the terrain is partly steep. Description: Start at the Fish Ponds in Solberga, parking and an information sign with a map of the area can be found at the parking lot. From there, you walk past the fish ponds and into the forest. Some of the mining remnants along the way include Könsta, used to operate a pump rod to the mines, then you come to the Blackbergets mining field where iron ore was mined, and finally you reach the Insjön copper mine with large mine holes, be sure to follow the orange markings through the area. If you wish to continue hiking, the mine hike can be combined with the Iron Four 4 km, and the total hike will be 9 km. Visit Dalarna is not responsible for the trail or its maintenance.
